Peacock Train Beauty & Problem with Sexual Selection Theory - Journal

Interesting .... interesting !
" First, a female spontaneously produces a preference gene for a male with, say, a long tail. This gene lies dormant for perhaps many generations without any opportunity to be expressed. Then one day, a male spontaneously generates a gene which produces a longer tail. The female then selects that male and some of their offspring have both the trait gene and the preference gene. Therefore, the cycle is in place and ready to develop and perpetuate long tails."

plumage .... etc ... etc !
I think all the peahen of any color prefer Blue peacocks .... IB.
They are "old fashion"!
If you let them choose, they will always choose the Blue male. Because their fantasies have no "mutated"!

One of my white males is attracting hens this year and mating, i believe the sound of the train also attracts the female, the pied that has fought so long for the territory in front of the barn had a few hens just pass him by at first and i noticed that he rarely made the fanning noise with his train then but once when a hen passed him by he turned and fanned and the train rattle and she turned back to him and gave him a thorough inspection, so i believe it is a combination of things
