Peacocks fighting

Hello,
New here, 1st post:

We have two peacocks and two peahens. We inherited them when we bought our house. Previous owner says they are 1 1/2 years old. All 4 have coexisted peacefully for the 6 months we’ve had them, but recently the peacocks are fighting. The one chases the other out of the yard and won’t let him come home. Is this a mating thing? Dominance or territorial thing? Will they work it out? We hate to see our one guy being bullied and unable to come home. Any help
Or advice is much appreciated.

Cocks will stake out a territory to claim as theirs and will run off other cocks. The one getting run off has to lay claim to an area too so there is usually some sparring at the border of the two areas, however, they rarely ever fight to the death or cause much damage to each other.

Thank you for the reply. I guess we wait and hope they can split the territory.
There’s a lady down the street who complains that the run off one is in her trees but obviously there’s really nothing we can do about that.

Pen the loser if you don't want him in your neighbor's yard. In my experience it's better to head off this problem early before it causes a neighborhood feud.
