I'm going to be moving my young peafowl pair pretty soon.
They will be going to a very large open ground pen with a shelter and roost.
It is covered in 2 inch chicken wire to keep out hawks.

I have a pheasant named "Larry" thats about 6 months old he is a Black Mutant.
He is very beautiful with his green and blue feathers on a black back ground.

I was thinking today "larry" is in a small pen and i'm sure he would like more flight room.

Is it possible to put my Peafowl pair and my Pheasant in the same pen together?

Here is a pic of the peafowl sorry i don't have a pic of Larry

You can try it.. if the pen really is big enough for all three to stay away from each other if necessary. As the peachicks are younger, put them in the pen first.

*some* ringnecks are a little pungacious.. and the males can get a very strong sense of terrority.. so watch for it if he tries to treat them as another male ringneck or tries to mate them or ?? Give shelters inside so they can hide or get away if necessary. Do not give a shelter where a bird can get trapped or cornered inside though.

Full size peafowl are pretty much okay to have with ringnecks..

Be sure to keep a regular worming program once all three are on ground.

Good luck.

Thanks for your reply Kev.
Now i don't know if i want to do this or not if there could be some tension between them.
The pen is 12x12
I was hoping they would just ignore each other and go about their business.
Larry the pheasant is tame enough for me to hold i got him as a chick and raised him as my pet.

Now my Peafowl i have been wanting some for 8 years and just got them this year.
I will have to think about this more, but for sure the peafowl pair is going in the pen.

Thanks Deerman i always trust your judgement on these things

I would have thought the 12'x12' would have been big enough thanks for telling me it isn't.
I knew pheasants could be put with chickens and thought well a peacock is kind of like a big chicken.

But now Larry will get his own larger cage and the peafowl will get the 12x12.
I plan on a even bigger pen for them in the future but they are still small and will really enjoy this pen.

Thanks again

I know of a breeder who keeps pairs and trios of pheasants in breeder pens with those of his breeder peafowl. He has some Javas in with tragopans, so if it is not a good idea, then he is in trouble!

They will be fine as long as they have enough space. If they are in a small pen you may have problems.A 12x12 may be big enough but I would suggest more.
