attacked not hurt other than feather loss. can’t perch? won’t call mate who got away but is staying near. she can fly. young man was chivalrous for his lady. he was just starting to really fan out? sad. will his wing feathers grow out?

I have a similar situation now as well. One of my free range hens was attacked and lost both her tail feathers and all the flights from one wing. She can not get up to roost so she is in a breeding pen where she is safe to sleep on the ground until the feathers grow back. Birds ability to let go of their feathers in a struggle is a safety mechanism, the trauma can stop normal behavior like egg laying or trading while they heal. If your free range cock can not get up to roost safely you should place him out of harms way until he can.
