I have been lucky to have not one but two peahens wander onto our property and stay here. This is the most recent hen and she is constantly *kissing* on my peacock. I've never seen that behavior with the other hens, I think she's totally into this guy, what do you guys think?

This is not a once in a while occurrence, it's every day...

Do peafowl feel love?

Hate to burst your bubble, but she's actually eating bugs, worms, and parasites off of his face!

And I'm sure he loves her for it!

Actually I wondered about that .... but I'm sticking with the romance thing.

Hehe, sorry!

They do groom each other as a sign of trust. Sometimes the males (not during breeding season) and the females will groom each other as well. However, hormones change everything. I've seen males who groom each other in the offseason become non-stop battlers when their trains are full. And hens who are normally buddy-buddy will make the feathers fly when another hen comes near her nest. But, I've also seen three hens tending one nest, all at the same time. And males who fight all day long, will sleep quietly next to each other all night.

Funny birds, these peafowl are. A lot like humans in some ways.

I LOVE your pictures!
My peahen just chases the peacock around and picks at him. It would be much nicer to see her eating his bugs

Yes they are preening each other. I did have a peacock though that every time a peahen walked by he would lower his head wanting her to preen his face, so sometimes I think it is a love/attention thing...Peachicks do this face preening and peahens do this to their chicks too.
