Peafowl Photo Contest

$40 For adults!? That is great! I hope you can get the adults. The best part about a white peacock to me is the display. A young white peacock is less impressive than a young India blue peacock to me but an adult white peacock is very regal.

I don't know if it's $40 for adult she just said $40 for White peafowl. I'm hoping so and I'm going to call her today. Hopefully she can clarify. She says her peafowl love people and if you have food they will perch on you.

40 dollars for a white peafowl??? Those can go from 200 bucks up!!

Just the India ones are like 75-150.

Evidently sometimes they go for cheep at auctions too.

It's not at an auction though. She has a huge hatchery or so she says. She says she has IB, White, IB BS, Bronze, Peach, Cameo, Purple, Opal, Burmese and Java Green, and Spaldings. I think she said Pied and Silver Pied as well but I don't remember for sure. She said she's been breeding peafowl for 35 years. She is just a lovely 3 hour drive though. When I asked for whites she said that I don't need to rush and that she still has hundreds. That might be why she is selling them so cheap. India Peafowl for $75- $150

Thank God that not many people that live near me that have peafowl sell them that high. Most people that I have thought about buying peafowl from were offering IB for $25 to $35 only. The only person near me is a person just a mile away and she has whites and IBs but she asks too much. At the auction last year there was a Spalding Pied split to BS though it was being advertised as Pied and it only went for $50.

I was just saying sometimes you can find peafowl for less at an auction - so I have heard. I haven't been to an auction.

Sounds like peafowl go for cheep near you. So that is $25 and $35 for adults or??? I think it also depends on how many peafowl and peafowl varieties a breeder has. Some of the large breeders seem to sell India Blues for less than what a small breeder would.

WOW. look up prices on https://www.purelypoultry.com/peafowl-c-257_194.html here!! for the adults!! WOW!

Now those are some HIGH prices compared to other places.

The weird thing though is they price everything high but the greens are listed lower than what most greens go for. Usually when greens are priced low it isn't a good sign. Personally I wouldn't deal with hatcheries for peafowl. You can't be as assured what you are getting compared to visiting the actual breeder and seeing the parents.

Edit: on the drop down it lists a 2013 pair of white peafowl for $952!!! I feel bad for anyone that buys those for that much. That is a loot of money for just whites!

That's for adult IBs. Now there is someone just a mile up the road from me that tries to sell IBs for $75 each and whites $150 each. But her birds aren't good quality. She has 5 pairs in one pen. She believes they will pair off naturally as well as that some of her birds are missing lots of feathers or have broken feathers.

After having multiple males breeding this year i found out that a peahen will mate with more than one male, seen my pied girl getting hit by two different males in 3 days time so they are not monogamous.
