Peafowl Poop Question

Lately I've noticed that at least one of my adult peas are making huge poo piles. I've see them about once a day and they are about the size of tennis ball, maybe larger. And no, they aren't under a perch. Other than the quantity, it looks and smells normal. Is this cause for concern?

I noticed when I first got peas they aren't like chickens or geese, they don't seem to poop all the time but they do seem to have awful big piles. I think if they look healthy the poop looks normal I don't think I would worry. I know when someone looses there big birds we all take notice. Sometimes I feel like giving mine an extra dose of worm medication just to be sure they got enough. I'm sure that's not a wise idea though.

The majority of their diet is a seed based feed that they love, TMC Game Bird and alfalfa hay. They also have access to chick crumbles, scratch, lay pellets, oyster shell and any bugs that they catch in their aviary. This is more or less what they've been getting for the last two years. If you have any suggestions on how to improve their diet, I would love to hear them.

The poop does look normal except for the size, like a dog pile. And maybe I am a bit more sensitive right now... Is it normal for this group to have so many losses so close together? ShellP lost her two chicks, Kuntrygrl lost hers and now New 2 pfwl might lose a second one.

Never seen poop that big but if it looks normal except for the size i would not nbe too concerned.

I know it's hard to get them to big bird stage. When they get to the big bird size the main concern then is keeping them safe from predators. This many being lost for other reasons has me sitting up and taking notice, too. This summer two people had cysts around the eye area on their big birds. I was out really checking each one of mine twice a day.

We are suppose to have 2 beautiful days in a row here. Won't hold my breath. Matti has a day off from school so we hope to get things in order so our peas are comfy for this winter.

Thanks, I've seen that before. Has anyone ever done something similar for peafowl? Because the feed store that I go to lost three 12 week old peachicks to coccidiosis (necropsies at UC Davis lab) and their poop looked like some of the "normal" pictures.

I guess it's time to go weigh my adult birds... I wish they weren't so wild, lol. Curiously, what do people here use to identify their peafowl?
