Peahen laid first egg, do I leave it there?

OK well the eggs were laid on June 1st and June 2nd, today is the 5th and no more eggs so far. Hope that doesn't mean that she is done already?

I hope you don't have something eating your eggs.

Check for them more often.

I check one or two times a day depending on my schedule but I will check more often. Thanks

just checked again after answering your post, it is about 8:55 pm, locked them up around 7:30pm with no egg to be seen and lo and behold there was an egg on the ground under where the roost! On the 2nd she laid right before dark so I guess she may be a night layer?

Yes most peahens lay late of the day, I keep straw under the roost, so those few layed from the roost dont break. Have hatch many peachicks from eggs that fell over 6 ft from a roost.

Peahens also lay every other day. They will take just a few days off between batches.

I gather eggs at dusk and dawn.
