We have a peahen who stopped to visit one day, 2 years ago, that never left and is now living with our chickens

. Well, about a month ago she started laying an egg here and there, until last week she went broody and hasn't left the nest she made in our coop. The problem is that her egg is not fertilized

!! So what do you suggest we do? Should I go in at night and sneak out her one or two eggs she is brooding on, or is there a better option?? We appreciate any ideas you may have

You could look for someone in your area selling fertile eggs and switch them out on her. I have sold eggs to several people this year for the same situation.

You know, we had thought of that but in our area we don't know of anyone who has peafowl. That's why it was such a mystery where she came from.
Someone had mentioned switching her egg out and putting fertilized chicken eggs under her?? Does anyone know how they may handle chicks if they aren't their own??

Within a week our Peachicks will fly up onto the perch with their mommas. I'm guessing a chicken chick would not be able to do this and I'd hate to see her roosting on the ground indefinitely. It is not a habit you want her to get into, too easy for predators to get at her. What is your general area, perhaps you are close to another member.
