I have a peahen who has been sitting on 3 eggs for about 35 days...no sign of hatching or her leaving them. What is the best way to remove/stop her sitting. She is beginning to lose condition despite best efforts to feed her.

Welcome!

Sorry, I have no experience with Peahens but you could try posting on the Peafowl Forum: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/51/peafowl

You might want to also pop in and say hello on your local thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you ‘Find your State’s thread.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out

Hi and welcome to BYC - you have some great links already from Teila so I'll just say hello!

All the best

I hope the peafowl members can help you out.

Best of luck!

Folks on the peafowl threads are very thoughtful and kind and I'm sure they can answer your questions. As far as the rest of us go, how long is the usual gestation period for peafowl. I wouldn't know if she is overdue or not. Do you have Peacocks to fertilize the eggs. If not, her eggs will never hatch and she is just wearing herself out.
