Peanut laid an egg!!! Now what??

first eggs from any bird can or cannot be fertile, but as mum stated fertile or not as long as you collect daily and dont incubate them they can be eaten just any egg you buy at the store. All of our eggs are fertile that we sell out of each and every week to customers for eating. Just dont tell the kids when making breakfast. You dont want to turn around and incubate every single egg if you dont have room for the ducklings or buyers for them as that is not responsible ownership of the adults. As Lydia stated though dogs LOVE eggs and we too feed eggs to our dogs.

Wow. That's crazy for a Pekin, isn't it? I had read that large breeds didn't normally start laying until 20-30 weeks.
I've started watching for eggs from our half-bantam duck, but I'll have to make a point of looking in the Pekin's cage, too!

LOL..I don't know, I was surprised! maybe its the food..haha

Oh OP. I don't think it's scarring for your kids to eat the eggs. My son is only one but he knows we have chickens and ducks and what sounds they make. So we had chicken for dinner last night and he was pointing at it. I told him, chicken. He knows what chicken is, he feeds them every single night. Didn't even phase him, he ate it with gusto!

I am not worried about it "scarring" them, but it would be their choice and not mine. My parents were here for a visit and said they could not eat Peanuts egg and my dad is a hunter..lol

I have zero issues with what anyone else does with their eggs, but please just understand this is "new" to us and maybe in future we will get past it being a pets egg, nor would I care if someone who would eat her egg wanted too..but for now me and the kids just do not feel comfortable with it ourselves:)
