Well I hatched this one back about 2 month's ago.She has not seemed to grow hardly any.The egg's were supposed to be 'sizzle" and only one out of 6 hatched.I have a showgirl silkie from another seller(one out of 7 was fertile) that isn't much bigger(pic) hatched about a week or so later. They both seem to be doin good.I brooded them with 5 standard frizzle chick's that were born a few week's after them both.Even though the frizzle's grew much quicker and stand above the 2 silkie's still they have always gotten along and the food is always fresh and hasn't been any pecking at all from day one from any of them.Ehhh until today 2 of my sebright's flew out of their brooder into thier's lol.I have 3 frizzle standard 2 standard cochin in that box along with the 2 silks. They are very protective. Im thinking now I hope one of the silkie mix is a roo cause they so tiny I couldn't possible put them in a coop with any of my other bird's.I hatched 7 silkies on Xmas and they grew FAST.They were put in an old playpen for a month or so in basement before going to coop cause was so cold. The roo's are big and the 2 hens are fat and healthy looking.Maybe its a genetic thing I dunno but guess I gotta set something up for these 2 munchkin babie's.

I just had a little tiny almost 1/2 size red silkie hatch, and it was the first silkie to be taken when a buyer came for some chicks. I hope it thrives for her!

Maybe you could start breeding a line of dwarf silkies!!!! They have "teacup" poodles, why couldn't you have "eggcup" silkies???????

I think it would catch on!!!!!!

Oh my gosh! There's a gal here on BYC with a Standard sized Silkie... and now there's your "teacup" Silkies... I am very excited for what's to come. Please keep us updated on this, I'd like to see how big they actually get. I love miniature anything and Silkie mini would be AWESOME!

Yea these 2 sure are awfuly small.I even double checked the date's I won the egg's and 3 day ship and hatch time on them.I have raised several small flock's of silkie's in the last 6 year's.One of the first chick's I ever hatched from bought egg's was a silkie Ms. Fluff. She was an awesome hen and raised a clutch of 12 babie's at almost Dec. before she was a year old.I will try to post some pic's of my other 6 silk's tomm. provided it doesnt rain all day.I guess these 2 are going to require a bit more care and hubby say's he will convert old smokehouse just for them if We have to.I plan on taking the frizzles out of the broder this week also.I don't think they have been food deprived or anything like that at all. They are usualy the first ones when I refill the feeder twice a day etc. I will update on them and post more pic's.I am still hoping the showgirl is a roo it's hair is looking quite spikey now so.....Maybe they will grow a little more I hope so.Wish me luck with these two tiny youngen's.

How sweet are they?!

I just got two silkies. They are both 3 weeks old and oh so tiny! My black one is much smaller than my white one and they were born at the same time.

I just got my first "eggcup" Silkie hen today! She was hatched Christmas day and she's a third of the size of my 8 month old hens. She is fluffy and beautiful. I think we should breed for smaller size.....I guess I have a good start here. Who else has dwarf silkies??????
I'll try and post photo tomorrow.
