Pearl Guineas are hatching :) with photos!

We found a little nest of eggs and I popped them in the incubator with some turkey eggs. They started pipping last night and htis morning are hatching. weeeeeeeeee!!

About a week after I set the eggs we found a guinea on a nest. She did hatch eggs but a huge downpour washed out the nest and we found the keets dead in the barnyard.

I am so pleased to have these guineas hatch. I will brood them with the turkey poults so they can teach them to eat and drink.

Last year I hatched some eggs from someone here that were supposedly all pearl gunieas.

Anyone see a lavender in my hand? LOL

Congrats on the keets and the turkey poults! Sorry about the ones the rain got.

That does look like a lavender one. Is it a recessive thing like the A&Ms in the quails?

I think the lady had several colors of guineas but the pen my eggs came from where to be just pearl. But she had to have had a mixed color in the genes that didn't show. This is the first set of eggs we hatched this year from last year stock and I was suprised to get the lav. lol

I just bought 10 off of Craiglist...there were three lavs in the brood. Yep, I got all three

Thanks for the pictures of the keets. I picked up a FREE clutch of 27 Pearl eggs last night. I split them with a friend, and they go into the incubator as soon as my hatching chicks go to the brooder.

Becca, watch them getting near day 25. Last year every keet hatched on day 25 not day 28. I had bbs orps in the same bator and they hatched on time so I know it wasn't a temp issue hurrying them along. Some begin to pop like popcorn from day 25 - 29.

Don't you like lavender Miss P?? I think the lavender guineas are gorgeous!! I had 3 lavender youngsters last fall, but within a few weeks after turning them out of their coop all 3 had disappeared.

Now I'm just stuck with these dundottes, until I find some more lavenders!
