Pearl star leghorns

I purchased 8 "pearl star leghorn pullets" from TSC. They were on sale, buy 4 get 4 Free! They had an excess since they had gotten another shipment and these were not cute and fluffy anymore. I had to get them. Then I looked up the breed, a cross between partridge rock and a Sussex.
Some of them have white earlobes. I have been expecting cream white eggs. I have gotten 2 small brown eggs in addition to my regular hens rent.

Where is the Leghorn name come from?

They were labeled as pearl star leghorns at TSC. I had 3 rir already. And these guys are definitely not rir though a few look close. Some have a lacy pattern to there tail feathers a few have white cheeks they seem a little more playful than the rir and 2 barred rocks, I already have

They started laying in September and haven't stopped. After a brutal cold stretch I had one that seemed to be breathing an coughing and stretching her neck out. I brought her in side in a dog kennel. Between Thurs and Sunday morning, she layed me 2 eggs and was walking around the house crowing

I suppose she’s just not sure what’s going on, poor thing. I hope she makes a quick recovery. Thanks for the update!

She's fine. She got her crowing down, she wasn't breathing like that anymore. I really think she was just horse from trying to crow

I have a dozen, three week olds, of the Pearl Stars.
They are full of spunk, remind me of brown Leghorns. Looking forward to good numbers of large cream colored eggs. Thanks again!!!
