My hen has taken on a distinct shade this year. I noticed for the first time that she has dark eyes, too. None of the other WH I've had look like her. Even the jake I bought at the same time is definitely white. I haven't checked his eyes. I've only just noticed this with her. At first I thought she was just dirty, with all the rain. I can't decide if it's a slate color. The first birds I purchased from this place were all white with blue eyes. I bought them for the freezer and now wish I'd kept all of them. I have one Tom from that batch. I don't know if I can take a picture that will show the difference, it's very subtle. Any ideas on what is going on? Was she bred for dark eyes, and picked up this coloring?
