Pears/Pumpkins

I had lots of extra pears so i fed them to my flock, they were consumed quickly, chickens love pears and pumpkins to, i cut the pumpkins in chunks and throw them in the coup. Good healthy natural food. They like grape leaves to.

Do you cut the pumpkin in wedges and leave it or scoop seeds out or what? I have several for decorations that we won't carve or eat and glad to have somewhere to use them.

One of my neighbors, who is associated with a local 4-H club, nicely gives me all the kids' leftover pumpkins every fall. There are so many I no longer cut them into wedges, I just give them a toss, let them break open and watch the free-for-all begin.

You want it broken open, but doesn’t have to be cut in wedges. A well-placed boot stomp or a split open with a shovel works too.
