Peas for ducks?

I just started the pea this this last weekend and they are quite popular with ALL the chickens and ducks!! I use the frozen kind and pour a little warm water in to thaw them out and it works great. I use corn and peas and they try to eat the corn first but will never turn down the peas. I also take the frozen ones and throw them in the pool and they thaw out pretty quickly. Once they sink my female pekin is under the water searching for them and is determined to eat every single one. LOL

LOL.. I just read my own link on the chard and it has oxalates. I may limit their consumption of that. But yes I am the pea and green bean guy, the water refresher

I have a Cayuga pair. I bought a 300 gallon stock tank for them (after I realized they couldn't swim with their feet hanging lazily in the kiddie pool, or dive down in it....DUH) and soon I'll be setting up a pump and Skippy filter to keep the pool more fresh. Okay, so I knew I was catering to the ducks, somewhat.... (My land-lady wanted to know what was wrong with the kiddie pool, why couldn't the ducks be happy with that?!?! We're on a well!) If she could see how HAPPY they are swimming in water 2 feet deep!

Anyway, the real point of this post of mine is to say I did not really realize HOW much I catered to Thelma and Louie until I found myself at the frozen food section, comparing bags of frozen peas to each other. No, no, not those, they aren't as good a brand as THOSE!

My ducks LOVE thawed frozen peas AND corn. I just buy the big bags of the the frozen store brand and thaw them in water. And I mean they REALLY love them... see this...

But Ohhhhh good idea... I think I might try planting some for them next season!

I get my peas from the secret fresh pea vendor who travels around selling fresh peas to duck owners!!! lol

actually, i buy bags of the cheapest frozen peas, and the i thaw them out and feed them to the duckies. sometimes frozen corn too, bt never carrots, i tried the peas/carrots mix and they hated them, so i just get peas.

There is nothing shy about my ducks at pea time.

the only time my ducks come near me is if i have peas. i wish they would let me hold them

I feed mine frozen peas and they just love it. I don't always let them thaw. I just make sure they don't get brain freeze....... lol.

NEVER use canned peas. The salt content is way to high for them. Enough to kill a duck. Just use the frozen or fresh peas. I'm sure they will eat veggie that is frozen. Mine love rotten tomatos! I've found that ducks are like goats only they have two legs. They will eat anything and poop everywhere.
