My poor little 8 week old EE Matilda has some kind of injury to her breast area. Not sure how it happened. I was feeding them & it looked like her feathers on her breast were 'bouncing around'. I pulled her from their grow out pen & examined her & found the skin was practically ripped off her breast & barely hanging on. I ended up trimming it off, along with the feathers covering it. It had apparently happened most likely yesterday as it was dry & not bloody. Its a bit bloody where I had to trim it . She doesnt seem to be in pain & is eating, drinking & moving around fine. I did quarantine her by herself to keep the others from further aggravating it. Is it ok to use antibiotic ointment on it? Like neosporin?

neosporin really helps. I know from experience, my chickens started pecking one of mine, it made her bleed... you did the right thing seperating her from the others, now neosporin to heal it will really help. i hope she gets better mine did when i put the neosporin on..
hope she get better!

So far, so good. Shes still inside the brooder box in the cabin, by herself (3 rabbits in there for company, but not directly with her. lol)
The bleeding stopped same night. It all looks 'crusted over' now. I hope all is healing. My biggest worry is flies. I'm going to let her out tomorrow for awhile to run around to see how she does. Hope to have her back in with the others in a few days.
