pecking a hole in egg

yesterday and today when i went to get the eggs they had a hole pecked in the pointy end nothing leaking out just the shell is cracked ! Why are they doing this !

The chickens may not being doing anything. My eggs look like that when there is not enough nest material in the nest boxes. It happens when the egg drops. Try putting in more nesting material.

Mine do this too...No idea why but get one almost everyday.

I have new layers and I noticed my first brown egg was like that. The shell was nice and hard.
