My new chicks have just started establishing a pecking order I will post a pic of the one that got beat on the most. The others seem to be fighting it out ok. They are just nor giving up, doing the chest bump and stretching their neck out (too look taller I assume) well this poor little girl got injured and I am wondering if I have to separate her out. She is hiding her face in the grass wen they do it and is off away from the flock at this point. History, they are black sex links who I tricked mom into being broody and thinking she hatched 13 chicks (one was male but I think I got 2) They have a fairly large coop and they still fought when I has them out for a bit to free range, waterers and I am getting a second feeder tomorrow.
They are 2 weeks old.

Poor girl.

It sounds like bullying, which some chicks just do. Put some medication on her to help it heal up.

I hope this helps: http://www.the-chicken-chick.com/2013/03/chicken-feather-loss-cannibalism-causes.html

Best of luck!

I only have one adult hen, I have witnessed it. They only seem to do it when it when they are eating. There are 2 that are getting bullied now. They stay away from all the others and when they come out one hangs out right underneath mom. I put some blue kote on it so at least they are not attracted by the red. The wound seemed a little better today, not as red or shiny looking. I also put a bunch of hay in the coop so they could hide and for the others a few logs to play queen of the world on, and a box.

Will the flock accept the chick back in once healed up?

If it is separated for more than a day then the mother may not want it back. Make sure the others have plenty of protein in their diet. I hope they all start getting along.

My chicks are a little over a month old and all fighting out their dominance pretty intensely. Especially the roosters.
