We have 6 khaki campbell ducks we hatched this spring; 3 males, 3 females. 2 of the males just "sprouted" their drake feathers and one of them is constantly going after the other now. The one that is acting dominant always chases the other away from the flock anytime he gets near. Is this a "pecking order" phase? Or, should I expect this to continue or even get worse? If it came down to getting rid of one of them, I am curious of people's thoughts on this: the one acting dominant is larger than the other, but we like the coloring of the less dominant one better, though he is smaller - for breeding/genetics, is it better to keep the larger one or the one we want to see pass down his coloring despite his smaller stature?
