Hi, Is it possible/is there anyway to influence or change the pecking order? Right now my pecking order isn’t really a straight line. There is a clear number 1 and 2 but the rest is just like Paper, Scissors, Rock. I know it sounds silly but I was just wondering if there’s even the slightest chance that I could change the pecking order. Anyway thanks for your input

What would be your reason to change a pecking order.:idunno
Pecking order is something that just occurs naturally, and as long as no chicken gets killed or injured badly,,,,,,,, NO NEED TO DO ANYTHING.
If your top pecking order chicken is injuring others, there are some things you can do.
Post a poster of this in your coop with clear sight of that chicken.
Chickens like music.:gig:lau

If that does not solve things, then this pix

The pecking order often is not really discernible, or controlled, by us humans.
It can change too...and you know what runs downhill.

Please explain why you'd want to change it...is there a problem?

I understand what your saying, here there is really no too bird or. A bird that rises over everyone, but that doesn’t both me the least, why change it?
The pecking order is never a fine line, Becky the hen may be higher then susy and Susy May be higher then rosy but rosy runs off Becky that’s similar to the order here nobody is really above anyone, everyone just has their place.

I just want to straighten the order out. Right now it’s kinda like a big jumble except there is a clear no. 1 and 2. Like A could be above B but B could be above C and C could be above D but D could be above A. It just kinda annoys me to not have a straight order.

I think you're just going to have to get over that.
As long as they all are getting enough to eat and drink, none are getting chased and pinned down and beaten or copious amounts of blood is being drawn.... just let them do their own thing, they know what they are doing.
How many birds do you have?

There probably is a top bird but you may not be aware of it. Many top hens don't have to do more than stare at the other members of the flock to get them to move.

And it's normal for it to not have a "straight line" or a stable order just as there's not necessarily a direct unchanging hierarchy in every aspect of our own lives. The birds can decide for themselves what's best for their flock.

I totally get this. All my spices are in alphabetical order. And it bugs me when other people don't put them back where they belong. But ... chickens are not spices. They are living, breathing entities with minds of their own. And that's what I like about them, the little hooligans! :love
