So I've had my 4 hens for 3 years now, and all of a sudden my black sex-link is getting pecked on, and today I came out to feed and water and her tail is bleeding, could it have to do with the fact that my hens a molting? What can I do to keep them form picking on her. And should I separate her until her tail is healed?

Thanks in advanced

I used vicks every night on the bald area until the feathers came back. It worked

If she's bleeding, likely the others will continue to peck at the spot. Put some BlueKote (thnk that's how it's spelled) on it. Chickens are drawn to the color red, and that will paint it blue. It will also make it taste bad, so with any luck they'll leave it alone. You can get it at any Tractor Supply company.

I would separate her until you put the BlueKote on it, then supervise.

Good luck!

Blukote and up their protein intake to help with the molt. They may be picking because they are lacking protein for feather regrowth.

Good luck.
