Pecking !!

7 day old chicks peck the container they are in . Why ??

How many chicks, how big is the container, and is there plenty of food, and water for them?

12 chicks - in a big tub that was for a live Xmas tree. Plenty of water and food

Sorry, but that doesn't tell me much. For 12 chicks I use a 50 gallon sized tote, like this one: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Sterilite-50-Gal-Storage-Bin-18496604/206273111 In about 3 weeks, they will need something quite a bit larger.
