Hi, I have a quick question. I have 3 RIR and 2 Barred rocks. On of the Barred rocks and also one of the smallest, has a scab on the back of her neck, near her head. Is this from the others pecking at her on the same spot? I'm pretty sure it's not a tick or anything like that that might have borrowed under her skin. I have been trying to watch to try and see if this is the case but I have only seen very little pecking. They tend to be on there best behavior when I'm around. I should add that they haven't been together long, and they are only pullets. Thanks again. (Ilove this forum!)

If you aren't actually seeing too much violent behavior, it may have just been an accident. Sometimes when pullets are trying to fly they may careen into something, or one of your other girls may have crash landed on this one by mistake. If it has stopped bleeding and seems to be healing, all is well. If you see fresh blood, separate her until she is better.

she should be fine as long as there is no blood because they will peck the spot with blood until they kill her take.if she has a bloody spot take her out and treat her with neopsporin
