Peculiar white crested polish dominant behavior

I had a Polish Roo that had smaller wattles and rounded crest... just like yours! I thought for sure was a hen, Then i heard him crow and sure enough the saddle feathers came in

I ended up selling him and now I'm afraid his sister may be a Roo too!! Se has a rounded crest and no wattles but seems to have saddle feathers and is starting to get metallic feathers...

Hope yours is a Pullet!
Rounded crests! I thought they were usually females and males were spiky! Man it is hard to tell genders of this breed.

How old were yours when the crowing started and saddle feathers? I don't think Nova has those yet... but I'm not sure.

Where did you get yours?? mine were from TSC.

He was about 12 weeks when he first crowed :( then kept getting better and I knew he was a Roo. Exactly my thoughts about the spiky crests.. When he went to his new home he was starting to grow more of a longer crest, but it was still round! I'm holding out for his sister though!

I got mine from Coastal Farms. Suppose to be pullet.

Mine's not quite 10 weeks!! And I just let them into the yard and she keeps crowing while I'm in the house! When I go out, its like feed me!

I hope your other polish is a pullet!!!

You got spurs really early?! Wowza. I've also read that it's not uncommon for hens to sometimes get spurs too! Way to make it confusing!

Today Nova has been going bonkers... :( keeps wanting out of the coop and then when I go back inside wants treats! Such a demanding chicken! I'm saddened because I'm fearful that regardless I'll have to get rid of Nova if this noise keeps up.

Sorry to hear you'll have toget rid of her... She's beautiful!! I got rid of mine for the same reason, were new to the neighborhood and I don't want to get on anyone's bad side just because of a noisy chicken :( Maybe mine could have been a hen if yours crows too... Either way she's happier in a home she can make noise all she wants :)

Update!

Nova is now 14 weeks and a cockerel/roo. I am very sure of it.

The hairdo is now spiking a bit, is extremely long, and is not as smoothed and folded over. He has dominant behavior over the pullets, and does his dance and flap is wings (yes, I am king here).

And the crowing.... bird knows the sound of my car when I get home and it's crow, crow, crow. Or in the morning when I should be up and letting him out...

The boyfriend wants to strangle him because he crows a lot when he wants his way. Once let out, Nova is fairly content. Apparently according to my neighbors, he sounds like a small dog.... so we'll see how long I can keep him (before the bf does something).

Boo. Sad. Love my stupid chicken. And he's extremely intelligent.
