PeeeeUuuuuu in the bator!

This is my first experience hatching eggs and when removing the dried chicks from the bator a BAD odor hit me!

I don't recall reading on this forum to be expecting bad smell. BTW out of 42 eggs, 3 did not develope, 1 was dropped early (oops) and one did not hatch that makes 37 chicks hatched. I'm proud of myself and DD. All we had was a still air LG.

Main cause is you have been cooking eggs for 21 days at 100 degrees. Just let your bator air out for a couple of days when your through and all will be well.

I have eggs that are due different days... Didn't think of the consequences til after I started them...

Anyway, the one that hatched needed to get out b/c she was tipping the incubator. So I temporarily wrapped the remaining eggs in diaper cloths and did a quick rinse in the incubator to rid it from any unseen bacteria...

Now a day later,... it smells! I don't know why! I am thinking one of the remaining eggs is rotten??? Gosh I hope it doesn't explode and hurt the other egg!!!!

I'm with ya, it stinks though and it can't be good!

oh yes the smell of 18 hour old goo, and poop in 80% hum at 100

I would pick up each egg and take a whiff - you will soon know which is the bad egg and hopefully you won't pass out from the odor!
