Not sure where to put it, but DH just bought a camera, and yesterday we set it up.
It's not permanent at this point, but he found a nice security camera, wifi-enabled with a microphone etc. (I need to look the brand up again)
So now he can see his chicks as the mood strikes. he had a few good chuckles already today, watching their antics after I leave the coop or when I put their mash in for the evening.

It's a Wansview camera with infrared capabilities. So even when the light it off we can monitor the chicks

I should ahve checked the alarm/siren before I put it in the shed. I might accidentally hit the button and scare my birds more than I do just talking to them.
(No, seriously, I used the microphone and they ran under the brooder plate! I scare them! )

I have to say I love this camera. (I mean, I am sure there are less bulky ones out there, plus battery operated ones)
Last night we had some thunderstorms overhead, rumbling and lightshow, the works. And all I have to do is look at the tablet to check on my chicks. They are juuuust fine.

Only if I'm using a light to brood chicks. Otherwise no lights at night here.

chopped up a couple of kohlrabi leaves and put them in the brooder.
OH MY!!!
one chick picked a piece, another darted by and swiped it! Pure Pandemonium!

I can't wait until I can give them all the scraps!

I don't have any wiring in the coop except for the heat lamp and/or brooder plate, which has to stay on.
