I mentioned that when I walk by the incubator, I can hear peeping and see eggs rocking (no pips yet). My cousin got very excited, and called back to ask if I minded having her over, along with whatever students got the parental okay, to spend the night and watch the hatch. A couple of the bantam chicks are destined to become classroom birds, and this is turning into a whole science project.

So, I'm about to be invaded by fifth graders.

I've got some baby quail, cornish chicks, and a couple ducklings too (these might end up classroom birds too), so this should be educational.

Congrats!! Go chickies!!!

(I have 10 from sonew123 as well, 5 blue and 5 olive, so will be curious to see what you get.

I love education and working with children. Hatching chicken eggs in 2nd grade was one of my fondest memories of grade school.

awesome!!! Ive been waiting on this "report" LOL.. Hope this turns into a BIG FAT A+ How mnay made it to lockdown?

One of the bantam eggies gave up, otherwise everything I could candle showed progress. I'm guessing there are probably a couple duds in the ones I couldn't candle.

Only two hatches so far, but about 6 more pips and a LOT of peeping.

Enjoy your invasion! Last hatch I did my daughters whole softball team was present for...good times! Nothing like a dozen 10-12 year old girls gathered around the bator screaming "OMG, they are sooooo cute!" Good thing I put the rules in place that the lid was NOT to open for any reason...lol

Oh, there was much squeeing over the ducklings. I even got to hear the words 'oh, how cute, he pooped on me'. We probably went through 200 mealworms letting them treat the chickens and quail.

I have some pink camo material I made into a hen apron and I'm planning to add Sergeant insignia. There is some debate as to which of the armed forces Rhonda should belong to though.

5 hatched, the rest are taking their sweet time. I only see 2 more pipped, but I think I hear more peeping and see more rocking. I know a lot more eggs progressed than that small a hatch would indicate.
