Oh, and congrats on your "experiment"... I think you should do just one more batch... I mean get closer to 1000.. really, What would it hurt???
big_smile.png

Yes, I'm spoiled.. and I LOVE IT!! He won't buy it until spring because he knows I will be tempted.... and start sneaking eggs... I even told him I won't hatch until spring - I promised... besides the turkeys and guineas aren't laying yet.
wink.png

I got him hooked... I actually heard him in the barn last night talking to one of the babies... "You can do it.. Just say one little 'buck wheat'... Come on.. I heard you earlier.." I was cracking up. He's so macho, but he's coaching the guineas!!

Thank you for the sites... that was going to be my next question. And yes it is your fault (gotta blame someone). I also think that we should start a 12 step hatching addicts program.
gig.gif

"My name is Cori and I'm going to be a hatchaholic." hehe!!

LOL, listen to you Cori!!! You went straight from an addict to a full on enabler in one sentence
gig.gif

I can't, I can't, I can't hatch any more keets!!! NO NO NO !!! I am sick to death of cleaning brooders
sickbyc.gif
Plus the more I hatch, never fails there's always 2-5 keets per hatch that I absolutely HAVE to keep, lol. I am trying really super hard to maintain a manageable number of keepers, and YOU... (well all of you enablers) you are not helping me out at all here, lol. There is no logical reason (that I can come up with anyway) to justify me needing more than 75 adult birds at the end of the year, lol. (I already have 42 adults, and I'm keeping about 50 so far from this year's hatches... you do the math!!!). Not to mention when/if I finally do get NPIP certified it's going to cost me a LOT of $$$$$ to get all these dang birds tested!

Besides, I want more Peafowl... and and and I want some pretty lil Duckies too... sooooo, I have to curb my Guinea addiction, lol. The feed bill is starting to pass up the profits, and that was NOT the plan, lol.

Just hatched another 23 keets yesterday and last night... with still a few more eggs left in the hatcher that should hatch (and no I am not going to help any of them!). So far only a 1 Coral Blue that's a keeper, whew.

Keet count hatch total is up to 733 now

This is what ya'll have done to me. I cleaned out the dogloo and found some unhatched eggs. One egg had pipped but was dead. After candling I found 5 that had slanted air pockets. I put them in my bator to see if maybe, just maybe I will actually get a keet out of one of Lacey's eggs.

Because of all the peeps talking about hatching have decided to get a bator
tongue.png
Learning as much as I can about hatching and stuff
tongue.png
I just want to watch the little guys and gals hatch and just take off!! I might just start off with 3 or 4 eggs at first though
tongue.png
get use to it and learn the ropes.. My DH thinks Im crazy already.. Started baking for my chickens spoiling them more than him
tongue.png
He thinks Im nuts for sure

See! You're only 267 away from 1000.

You can do it! Besides, when they grow up, they don't cost much for food since they find their own....
lol.png

I understand about the cleaning, cleaning, cleaning... YUK!! And money, money, money... Right now I have 55 birds (mostly babies) and geez its expensive. Good thing I have a full time job outside of the home.

I've not checked into NPIP. How much does it cost to have your birds tested? What does NPIP do for you? Who do they report the information to? Do they only check for health? I think I need to do more research....

Oh, I got the top on my run!!
ya.gif
The guineas LOVE IT outside!!!
wee.gif
They are starting flying contests... It's funny. I will get the pics up soon. My DH made it removable - so when the adults start free ranging (within my outer fence of course) then we can take it down... and when I start hatching (YAY!!) we can put it back on.

So, after I get the pics up you will have a better understanding... but I will do my best to explain.

He made "frames" and put the wire on them. Then, he attached the frames with hinges (so they fold). Then he put a "hook" of sorts on the fence posts that the frames slide into. When attached, it makes an A frame with them.... Ok.... I will get the pics uploaded while I'm at work with high speed... but it won't be until tomorrow. SORRY!

Perchie: I come to work at 6am Eastern, so if you want to get up at 3am to look at the pics - feel free!!
