Peeps won't use their roost to sleep

I have ten lovely Buff Orpingtons peeps that are about 9 weeks old. They are all feathered out just beautifully. Just doing great, except they do not use their roost to sleep on at night. They all curl in a ball together in a corner in front of the door. I see them on the roost all the time during the day time, but never at night. I've checked on them many times and never have they been on the roost at night. What can I do to change this or should I even be concerned about it?

how old are they maybe there to young

even old chickens are stubborn there basicly (chickens)

i was updating my chicken coop awhile ago and made a new roost and it took me putting them up there like 4 days till they do it on there own now

now there all happy ... once they get more independent they will venture off on there own

let us know what happends

Young chickies will hudle up in a corner. It is a safe feeling and they may be a bit too young for the night time temperatures.

I have a BIG 'OL cochin roo that sleeps with the slikies and the young pullets at night tight up in the corner of the pen.

I have just let him go and he apparently is a great comfort for the others. He is big and warm and cuddly and protective.

Worry not. I have a two black austrolurps that found the big chicks perch just this evening and they are only about 9 weeks old.

You should congratulate yourself that the little ones feel safe enough to cuddle up in a corner of your coop.

What size is your roosts and how high are they?

They are 9 weeks old today. There are three roosts. The first is about 6 to 8 inches off the floor the next is 12 to 14 inches off the floor and the last is 18 to 24 inches off the floor. As I said I have seen them on all three roost during the day, but never at night.
