Hello there and welcome to BYC!

So glad you could join our community!

I would cover your run. Hawks can do great damage to your flock, not to mention other critters that can climb right over. Just make sure nothing can dig under.

I am a huge fan of the Buff Orpingtons and the Black Australorps. Very gentle and docile, they love to lap sit and are great on the laying. They are very hardy health wise. My personal opinion is that the standard breeds are much more hardy over all than the bantam types. But this is just my thoughts on this.

Definitely follow the links that have been provided for you above. Enjoy this new adventure you are on and welcome to our flock!
