Alright. I have 6 ducks, one drake. 1 pekin, 3 runners (one is the male) and 3 KC. I have a small kiddie pool in there. The Pekin...does not like it. At this very moment, all of the other 6 ducks are in there. The Pekin is just sitting on the side. Now, it isn't an issue that it can get in. I've seen it get in twice now. It just freaks out and hops back out. (after scaring the other ducks as well...) They're NOT fully feathered. The KC are 4 weeks this coming Monday, and the rest are 5 weeks this coming Monday. But the temps are high 80's. And again, none of the rest mind. I have a duck that doesn't like water [IMG]

    Has anyone encountered this?

While the rest are in the water, it'll generally walk around the edges and stick it's head in. Then it'll sit. It's the oddest thing.

lol, I've got 4 American Geese and 10 ducklings between 3-5 weeks old or so. 7 Runners, 3 Pekins. The 3 Pekins were hatched by my duck and confiscated due to her terrible mothering skills. Those 3 Pekin ducklings had spent considerable time in the water scurrying after their mother. After being with the rest of the young flock for these weeks, I tried herding them into the pond recently. You'd think I was trying to push them into a bonfire. They were all terrified. Same result with a smaller pan of water in their outdoor day-pen a week or so prior.

    Hydrophobic waterfowl. Go figure.

lol! I tried to put them in. They all freaked out so I gave up. I left the pool in there and about day 3 they started getting in. It's very shallow, and it's been hot as hell here. Just to clarify, since I left it in there with ducklings.

I have never had a problem getting my ducks in the pool until this sprING. I brooded two ducks with a dozen chickens in the house. They think they are chickens and will NOT use the pool. They dont like not being able to see the chickens. They won't forage with the other ducks either when we let them out. They want to say inside the pen with the chickens lol.
