Pekin duck is a Embden goose!Help!

I got 2 pekin ducks this weekend, now what I thought was a duck turns out to be a white Embden goose. My daughter was right. Will they ever get along? How do I tell if it is a goose or gander?

They will probably get along if you keep them together. My geese love their brooder-mate ducks.

They hate everyone else - but love the ones they grew up with.

The goose attacked the Pekin ducks I brought home yesterday. Should I leave them together or will they eventually get along, I hear goose/gander/geese are mean, mine lets me pick her/he up I have had since a baby (got at the feed store they said it was a duck) and has not attacked me, yet.

The nostrils are at different places on a duck versus goose. :0

They will get along. Ducks and geese are very compatible. But, I think all geese should be in pairs minimum personally.

I guess I need to find another Emblem goose/gander. How do you tell the difference???

Vent sexing is the only way to tell Embden goslings apart. You could always order a few Embdens and put them together after a week or two. If you can keep them in the same pen with a divider then it will be easier to get them all to get along when they finally go together. Otherwise goslings that are of different ages act like kids of different ages and can be cliquish

Purebred Embdens less than two weeks old can be sexed by their down. The females are darker, the males lighter.

Wow, if I ever brought myself to own geese, those would be the ones. They are HUGE! You are really lucky to have one. Aren't they pretty spendy?
