I second that. Pilgrims are a lot more relaxed than Embden, can be sexed by color at birth and as adults and are good parents. You can't go wrong with them.
Well, I never said I was going to get geese. I'm sort of scared of them, or at least I'm scared they will attack my kids. I would go to Chrystal Springs Rhododendron Garden when I was younger, and the geese always chased me and bit me. I loved them and they wanted to eat me! So I'm not getting any geese anytime soon.
I raised an Embden goose with three Buff/White Runner ducks. They are adult now and are inseparable, the two drakes even "mate" with the goose. The ducks do have goose behaviors though but they live with the gander and the other two hens quite nicely.
I have an Emden gander who lives with 9 Muscovy ducks, was hatched by one actually. He does fine with them and like Sasa said mine also mates with the ducks.
I mostly wanted to comment that thi OP isn't the first person to get Pekins mixed up with geese. There was a lady, recently, who thought she bought goslings and it turned out she had jumbo Pekins (which get very large, sometimes). In her case, the bin she got them out of at the feed store was marked Embdens and didn't know that Embden goslings were more grayish.
