Hey fellow fowl enthusiasts , so sadly Gunther had an accident today while I Was not looking and his mail went inside his foot and he’s bleeding I was wondering what I should do I already washed If with antibacterial soap and water and was going to run to the store to get an iodine solution to clean it but was wondering what I should do the nail is basically inside the skin and he’s not bleeding a lot but it still worries me should I try and take the nail out or what should I do please help :(

Yes get the nail out you can't leave it in. Soak the foot real good in some iodine solution then use some neosporin or tripe antibiotic I'd wrap with non stick bandage then cover again with vet wrap to try and keep it clean and dry. If you can post a picture that will help.

If there isn't too much blood, once you take the nail out, you can just put some powdery wood ash on it then put a bandage or something just to stop the bleeding and prevent infection.

Omg thank you 🙏 I’ll try and upload pictures in a bit I just got home and was ready to try and cure it

This is the best picture I could get since he was fidgeting a lot and would let me pick him up Im also home alone at the moment so I don’t have any help with handling him but I know the nail is jammed in there I’ll try and upload more pictures right now when I’m feeding him

Right where I circled is where I believe the nail is sticking out a bit I’m sure it’s there though because earlier it was really obvious it was there
