Pekin Duck owners.....

Hi all.

I bought my Pekins on Sunday and they are settling in well - already know where their food comes from! lol

I was told that I would need to clip their flights feathers when they come through - however I have been reading that they wont fly???? So do I clip them or leave them?

What are your view / experiences with these sweet ducks.

pekins are too heavy to fly so there is no need to clip wings

My Pekins fly about as well I do

They will flap their wings and run like they're about to take off, but they're hopeless. You will not need to clip.

I did clip the wings of my mallard girls because they were testing them out before I let them out of the aviary on to the yard and pond. The Pekins run fast and flap their wings, but only because they were raised with the mallards and just hanging out with them they are little porkers and couldn't get off the ground if they wanted to. although Turkeys do it every day.

My pekins will try to fly but cant, they never leave the ground, poor girls are just too heavy.

I have a jumbo pekin and he already knows its hopeless so he dosent even try!

I am raising 7 this year...none try to fly.... would be funny to see though
