Hello, I am concerned with my 5 year old male Perkin’s wings. He has these bumps where the feathers aren’t coming out of and then there are these odd tiny ones that come out that he ends up pulling out.
There are some feathers that are bare and just pointy. I have posted pictures to back up my poor description. He is very spoiled when it comes to a clean pool. He always has food, range time, and clean water and bedding.
I lost my female last December and her wings were awful looking and she became lethargic then ended up passing away. My male is very healthy overall but I want to find out what I can do about his wings.

I cant exactly tell from the pictures, but in the fall ducks molt their "flight" feathers. Fight is in quotes because of course your Pekin isn't flying anywhere :lau:p

I think chickens really may be right. There may have been some injury, or it could just be an odd molt. I, too, would give some dry cat kibble as a treat for protein. Mealworms are nice, but pricey.
I’ve tried the cat food when my female was looking like that and they won’t eat it. Will meal worms be a good replacement to the cat food?

I’m having some wing troubles with my make Pekin. I’ve posted photos, he has what I believe to be ingrown feathers on his wings. It started out with one nub he would pull out about a year ago and now it has become an issue on both wings with many sights ingrown/nubs.
I took him to the vet and he looked said to just keep an eye on him and that he doesn’t think he needs to remove the follicle completely to test for infection.
These pictures are from him in the bathtub bc it’s very cold out in PA right now so he’s been in our laundry room. He is still energetic and doesn’t seem to be in pain but I worry that his wings do not look like they always did which were beautiful and and all feathers accounted for. Some are bare and stick out.
He eats pellets and with there being snow and a hard ground I’ve been giving him lettuce/peas/corn.
Thank you in advance.
