Pekin Duck

Pekin Female duck was attacked last nite. Something tore her top and bottom beak in half. Can she live and how to take care of her. This is for my friend. Thanks Lin

If either part of the beak is missing enough so she can`t eat, best to put her down. One of my 7 geese had most of her top beak torn off. We all thought that she was making it ok, but after 2 months she died. Tragic and so sad. Had I realized she was starving slowly to death, I would have culled her.......Pop

I had a goose that was attacked will on a nest and lost half her beak. She healed up just fine and ate and drank right along with everyone else. She was a bit odd looking with her shortened bill. But managed just fine.

Sounds like a 'wait and see' game a 50-50 chance. If she is eating and the injury heals nice she may make it.
