One of my pekin duckling’s, Ned, has darker feathers on his chest and I think that he may have a lump on his chest. It could his crop maybe digesting something, but I'm very worried. Here is a comparison of him and one of my other three. Their feathers are normal, and I’m wondering if maybe Ned’s crop is normal, it just isn’t being covered up by big light brown feathers.

It may be normal, I know crops can get quite large if they’ve eaten a lot. Is it always this large, or does it get smaller after a while? Do they have a deep water dish available?

I also want to add that these guys are not Pekins. They are Fawn & White Runners. Pekins are very large and fully white.

They are ducklings and have not grown their full feathers yet. Also, if they are white runners then Tractor Supply lied to me. And they do have a sort of deep water dish available, when they stand in it it goes up to their “ankles”, if you could call them that. Also, I don’t know if it is always this large, I plan on checking back on Ned again after school.

If they are white runners then can I sue tractor supply for misinformation and scam or smth?
Lol, no. Runners are better than pekins, anyway, less health issues.

Tractor Supply and other feed stores are distributors for hatcheries, they have no say in what livestock comes in and have to use the paperwork the hatchery sends.
the hatcheries are under extreme pressure this year from everyone's panic buying. So things aren't running as well as you'd hope.

They might have been mislabeled or they have had no label or jumped into another box. Typically, ducklings are sent as assorted breeds with no information included or clue to what breeds or it could have been a Pekin and runner shipment with only the Pekin label available.
If you don't want them, sell them or rehome them.

Oh no, I still want them! lol. Also, do you know what could be wrong with Ned’s crop? It might be nothing, but I’m still a bit worried

Also, they are still the cutest and sweetest things ever! I’m not quite sure how old they are, but I got them on April 15th, so about a month ago. MY brooder might be getting too small, but I don’t have any bigger boxes. I assume they were about a week old when I got them from tractor supply, so they are probably around 5-6 weeks old, which means their feathers should be fully grown in the next few months, right?
