I noticed on my ducklings that they have red skin on some parts of their body like under their wings and on their back, almost like they are pecking themselves. Do they have dry skin? Do they need more time in water? Any Advice?

Hi, can I make a suggestion? If you post your duck questions in the duck forum so many more people can help you. Even with the emergencies. Just scroll down past all the chicken stuff, and you will see OTHER BACKYARD POULTRY. Click on ducks, and you will have entered the best duck forum ever.

When my ducks were getting their feathers they looked to have bald spots, and their skin was red underneath. I think it was part of feathering out. By the way, how is the Pekin with the lameness doing?

Thank you for the advice, I actually did post it under the duck section but no one answered me. My little hobbler is still not walking and it looks like we have another one with the same problem in one leg. We have been doing all kinds of research and calling people but no one seems to know what to do. We took them out to play in the grass today and they loved it! They are still eating and drinking and don't seem to be in any pain, as in they are not chirping in pain, but I guess I really don't know if they are. I refuse to give up on them. I have been messaging their legs and just trying to keep them as happy as possible. Hopefully they can still have a good life while they can. I'm not really sure how long they can go on like this, but for now, I'm remaining hopeful.

Thanks for asking

Did this turn out to be okay? I have two 10 day old ducklings that are starting to get bald patches (one of them worse than the other) and I am worried something is wrong...

I have been watching this as well, to see if anyone answered. I have a few Pekin ducklings that have bald patches on their wings, but they all seem to have a little bit of skin showing. They are about 3 weeks old and getting in their down feathers.

i think thay are walking like that because of a birth defect either a part is missing or there legs r uneven
