My Pekin duckling has been getting bigger and with that, her / his quack / noises it makes has changed. It will be the normal noise I’ve heard since day one and then it’s something a bit different. I’ve never raised ducks before and haven’t heard anything about this during my research, but is that normal?

How old is your Pekin? Mine started honking around 3 or 4 weeks old. The other one still peeps. I've read that the honking noise is female and the peeper is male.

Almost three weeks old. That makes sense, I think that’s what it is. It does sound like a honking noise.

It's definitely not a graceful sound is it! I'm just glad it means "female" :)
It’s definitely not. I was so confused when I started to hear it. I’m hoping now my second duck is a male. Not a Pekin though, otherwise it would be easier to tell. Thank you for the help. I’m new to this and very paranoid.
