Pekin ducklings

I just got 2 Pekin ducklings Friday. We have them in the house and the are very noisy. I check on them they have water & food. Not sure why they keep making the chirping noise. Can someone help with this issue?

I've never raised any ducks but it's my understanding they are chattery (and messy, lol). The good folks over on the duck forum will be a good source of info for you, Pork Pie Ken has given you the link to it.

Greetings and welcome to BYC! So glad you joined us. I don't own ducks but understand that some breeds are noisier than others. Most flock birds will talk a lot as babies. Some just continue to talk, even to themselves, on a more or less continuous basis. There's a wealth of info, knowledge and experience shared in the multitude of threads. Browse around and see what interesting stuff you can find. By all means post away when the desire strikes you, especially if you have questions (provide as much detail/info as possible and pictures truly help)... With all the great folks here, generally someone will respond in no time at all. Please make yourself at home!

Oh, if you haven't done so already, PLEASE put at least your general location in your profile. It could be very important if/when you ask for or offer help or advice. You know, climate issues and such. I recommend at least your state as most folks won't be able to figure out where if you put anything more specific (county, town, street, etc) by itself. Old folks like me will never remember & look there first. To add it, mouse hover over Account top right and a drop down will appear. Click on Personal Details and scan down. You'll see the spot for Location. Then go to the bottom and save changes. Thanks! Hope you enjoy the site!

Hi and welcome to BYC We're so happy you've decided to join us
My brooder is in the wood shop... I put 30 or so day old ducks in and the rats moved out, I guess it was too noisy for them. Baby ducks are very opinionated and they're very messy with their water. Mature ducks are generally quiet unless they have an issue and they be certain you hear them. Girls are the loudest. They aren't particularly messy as adults, but they do love a pool.
