I'm am considering purchasing several pekin ducklings to raise in my backyard. I just have many questions before I would even think of getting started and I'm confused as to where to find them all. I'm wondering things like how much room they need, what type of pen I need, where to get feed, how do you tell when they are ready to be butchered, where do you take them for that to happen, how long before they re ready, and really everything in between. I would appreciate help, thank you all so much!

Welcome to BYC.

As another newbie to ducks, I can't offer much advice, but here goes.

Contact your local feed store and ask if they stock waterfowl feed. Mine carries the purina duck grower all the time and can special order the starter.

Getting waterfowl processed seems to be expensive. There are 2 different places I take chickens, and both charge around 10 dollars a bird to do ducks.

Buy the book "Storey's guide to raising ducks". I got mine on amazon for 12.50. Useful book.
