I have plastic storage tubs from WalMart and I cut a large hole in the side of it and placed some hay inside. I put them out for my Muscovy ducks but one of the Muscovies built a nest in the duck house instead so there was an extra, unused tote. The Pekin climbed inside one day and started laying and then the eggs piled up and she started sitting. She has made a nice nest out of it, all lined with feathers. Hatch rates can vary widely but I got about 50% from eggs hatched under a duck compared to 15%-35% in an incubator.
