I have 3 ducks about a month old each I think I have two males and one female. my one who I think is a female always goes after my "two males" especially when in the bath tub. Do you think I have the sexes wrong?
It wasn't until mine were 6 months old that I could tell the difference between the males and females. My male has a very distinct curl on his tail. It's cute! He also seems to have a brighter orange beak, and a thicker neck. Hope that helps!
Ducks love to peck and climb on each other, yes, sometimes it's mating, but sometimes it's also dominance and a form of play point being not always sex based. At about 4-5wks you'll start hearing differences in the voices, females have a genuine quack, males(drakes) are a raspy undertone, almost 'lost' voice garble.
Beak colour has nothing to do with sex, i have half and half here.. some orange, some pinkish.. i have one drake and 5 ducks, they are a few months old now.. and still no drake curl, he is bigger than the girls but not significantly enough to base sex on upon that.
Recent shot of mine, i banded my only drake to know who he is without relying on his vocals lol
