a bout 2 months back i purchased what was sold as a pekin duck from a farm supply store. as its matured the only similarities it has to my other pekin is its color. this one has a shorter fatter body, wobbles much more as it walks and the legs are more centered to its body. after looking it appears to be more similar to an aylesbury by googling images of both breeds. does anyone know a sure way to tell such as if they lay different color eggs or anything physically i might be missing between the 2 breeds. most of the other birds being sold with it were crested if that makes a difference.

it is unlikely to be either if it was from a feed store. probably just your standard pekin 'type' duck that is bred for meat and eggs, they are gorgeous though and have lovely personalities

True pekin and Aylesburys ducks are rarely found at feed stores.

really? i was thinking that with my cayugas because their coloration is slightly off, and my runners arent as upright as i've seen in other pics. i plan to just keep breeding the ducks i have now instead of buying more in the future so i'm really not worried about having mutts. thanks
