My Peking drake has been dragging his belly/butt. His belly feels like it is full of air. Not sloshy and very tight. I have seen some posts regarding this but not found if there is anything that can be done for it or what has caused id. He is eating and drinking but having difficulty getting around. Any suggestions?

I don't know if this is what he has but it sounded sort of what you were talking about I hope it helps scroll down it gives you the procedure if you think it needs to be done or your vet https://www.timbercreekfarmer.com/ascites-in-chickens-and-ducks-water-belly/

Do you mean like in this picture? I agree with the others we can't say either way without pictures.

Welcome to BYC. Is a vet an option? Can you post some pictures?

Yes, like this duck. He gets around but can’t get over even the lowest obstacles such as a stick that maybe laying on the ground.
Here are some pictures from the British Waterfowl Association of Pekins.

And here is a rendering from McMurray hatchery of the Pekin breed:

As you can see from the pictures the Pekin breed conformation especially ones from the European lines all have a much lower extended abdomen. I am posting for comparison purposes.

Getting back to how it feels. When you say tight do you mean rock hard? The area is intestinal not the stomach so it should not feel sloshy, but also not rock like. It should feel almost like a memory foam pillow when light pressure is applied.

I went to this website and followed directions to partially drain my duck. I drained about 1/2 cup today and will do this again in about two weeks. Immediately, the duck was walking without dragging his belly and appeared to be somewhat better. Thank you.
