I have 2 peking ducks that are approximately 5 weeks old. Im just wondering how old they should be before I put them outside? They seem ready, and are still in a large kiddy pool inside for now. I think its going to be hard to make the transition! Also, is a fairly large wooden doghouse appropriate housing for them? If so, should I put a door on it to close them in at night?(with ventilation of course). Thanks!

I would definitely 'lock' them in at night. The dog house should be fine just be sure to add some straw or wood shavings. I, myself, would make the transition to allow them to be outside.

What you described is pretty much my exact set-up, and I will be putting my duckies out there this weekend when they will be 5 weeks. I also have a large doghouse and it was not too hard to put up a door with a wooden frame and wire in the middle. The door, hinges, and a latch is all you need. We also have a large dog kennel for them during the day because we live in town and I can't trust them freeranging without supervision.
