I have the opportunity to acquire 2 female Pekins to add to my pair of Pekins from a good friend of mine. She is rehousing her girls after her drake was killed so she can focus on other breeds.
So,I would like to adopt them, so my girl won't be over-mated. I can quarantine and all that, although I am not real worried, I know there are things beyond our control and not visible so I will be careful. She also has a pair of young welsh harlequins she is getting ready to post on Craigslist and said I could have those just so she didn't have to bother posting. I am not worried about her dumping bad birds on me, we swap plants and garden stuff all the time, we both have hobby farms for pleasure, not for max return on investment (within reason).
How do these breeds do together? Does anyone recommend I house them separate after quarantine? Can they coexist without mating problems. If and when I want to hatch either breed I will separate and all, but for now just for duck enjoyment and eggs.
Thanks in advance,I will go over all of this with her, but I really trust your (BYC)input and will strongly consider it before getting these guys. Thanks again.

( we have a kindergartner and first grader children and so far that explanation of the duck dance is working, so we are sticking with it
